PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For this project, the client’s primary goals were to increase the warmth and functionality of the kitchen and bathroom spaces. Over the course of the 100-year-old home’s history, various remodels covered up original features and closed off the overall feel of the kitchen. For this remodel, the original floors were uncovered and restored, thus renewing the historic feel and creating visual continuity between the spaces. New dimmable LED lighting in the ceiling and under the cabinets was added, and new cabinets utilizing salvaged fir materials add rustic character.
In the bathroom, rather than removing the old vintage tub, the decision was made to highlight and compliment the quirkiness of the tub by integrating new tile work that compliments the color scheme.
Custom cabinet hardware made from railroad spikes contribute to the rustic character of this remodel.
